Are you a mom or dad with a third baby on the way?  Instead of purchasing a larger vehicle or one with additional rows of seating, many parents are purchasing narrow base car seats and strategically place them three in a row.

Listed below are some of narrow base car seats, along with their widths:

Clek Fllo (17 inches)

Clek Foonf (17 inches)

Diono Radian RXT (17 inches)

Diono Radian R120 (17 inches)

Diono Radian R100 (17 inches)

Combi Coccoro (17 inches)

Combi Shuttle (16.75 inches)

Chicco KeyFit 30 (17 inches)

Safety 1st onBoard 35 LT (17 inches)

Cosco Light ‘n Comfy LX (17 inches)

Baby Trend Flex-Loc Infant Car Seat (16.5 inches)

Evenflo Amp Belt Positioning Booster (16.5 inches)

Graco Highback Turbo Booster with Safety Surround (16.5 inches)

Fitting 3 car seats across the back is a challenge. In some vehicles it may not be possible. It does require the right combination of seats and the right arrangement of seats, utilizing the LATCH system and the lap/shoulder belt when necessary. When putting the seats together you want to make sure that the seats are installed tightly and independent of the other seats, in that the seat is not relying on the one beside it to feel snug.

In the end, you may find that there is no way to safely get 3 seats across in your vehicle, in which case it would be best to upgrade to a larger vehicle or a vehicle with additional seating rows.

We’d like to remind you, as with all children’s products, to make sure to do your own homework to find which seat is best for your family. Many stores will even allow you to test the car seat in your vehicle, just make sure to ask!
