Hit by a Drowsy Driver in Tampa Bay?

Drowsy driving is driving when one is too tired to safely operate the vehicle. When a driver does not get enough sleep or drives while tired, they are driving with an impairment. This puts everyone in their vehicle and on the road in danger.

AAA conducted a three-year study of over 3500 drivers. During the study, the 3500 drivers were in over 700 auto crashes. Drowsy driving was found to be the cause of 1 out of every 10 of those auto crashes. The study had surprising results and surpassed the estimate of the federal government.

The study also showed 29% of drivers admitted to driving while tired and that 70% of the drowsy driving crashes happened during the day. It also showed the 16 to 24-year-old age group had the highest percentage of those drowsy driving crashes.

Drowsy driving does not get the attention and awareness it should. AAA hopes the study will raise even more awareness to the issue of drowsy driving.
